Pixie Dance

Two young women, standing behind me in Forbidden Planet, looking at the new manga and pointing at some Shōjo:

"He's soo cute."
"Um, I'm not sure, I'm more butch than you."
"You're are not. You're fem."
"No."
"You're wearing high heels and a dress. You are so fem."
"Nope."
"If you don't stop it, I'll do my pixie dance."

I've realised that I am now at that age when I can say "young woman" without fear of contradiction.

And isn't that a terrible realisation?

Welcome to the Grumpies club.

I've been that age for a few years now, and I'm beginning to rather enjoy it.

There is a certain liberation to be found in being old enough to know better and daft enough not to care!

It's not something I'm in anyway worried about. If anything it just gives me an opening to be condescending!

Agreed. One of my favourite lines is "You know, when I was your age, I knew everything too."

Have you tried being old and slightly batty? That ones fun too. Young things really don't get how much fun it can be to be middle aged.
