6 crisps in 6 days: #3 - Fish & Chips

chilledchimp declined to even smell the packet so I went in alone. We used to be able to buy in the UK a snack called Burton's Fish 'n' Chips. These were small biscuits that had a vinegary fish flavour, quite strong too.

These Walker's crisps seem something of an attempt to emulate the Burton's. When you open the packet, the aroma is mild vinegar and a waft of something almost fishy. When you eat the crisp it has a mild indistinct savoury flavour, a bit like a very dilute Worcestershire Sauce or Nam Pla, with a touch of vinegar. It's not particularly inspiring. I would have liked it to be much stronger.

Still it was better than the Squirrel yesterday, although that is rather damning with faint praise.

This was actually my favourite (or least disliked) of the lot -- the only one I would have been prepared to eat a whole packet. but yes, definitely a pale imitation of those lip-swellingly vinegary things of yore.

burtons fish and chips
I loved those burtons snacks so much. What a shame they dont make them anymore.I noticed elsewhere on the net someone with a petition to Burtons to have them re-instate the snacks. As for Walkers too bland.Golden Wonder are far superior crisps
