In the dark, dark hour of the night

I woke up this morning with a song going round my head. It was sung in a sort of 1940s style, a bit like a hymn, I think it was supposed to be reassuring in some way. I could only remember two lines:
"In the dark, dark hour of the night
Comes the final hour
"

Of course, it's not a real song and I don't remember any dream to go with it.

Almost certainly lines from a William Ashbless poem, such as:

He whispered, "And a river lies
Between the dusk and dawning skies,
And hours are distance, measured wide
Along that transnocturnal tide--
Too doomed to fear, lost to all need,
These voyagers blackward fast recede
Where darkness shines like dazzling light
Throughout the Twelve Hours of the Night."

Obviously I've read Ashbless but not in 20 years or more, and it's hard to get his writings these days.
