Scary feet

On the back cover of this week's Economist is an advert for Vuiton, it's a photograph of Annie Lebovitz and Mikhail Baryshnikov in her studio. The bag is centre stage as you'd expect, but right next to it are Baryshnikov's scary feet.

"Scary feet"? I hear this from loads of people and I can never understand why some people regard feet as scary, ugly or weird and the rest of us go "Uh, feet."

Feet in general are not scary, ugly, or weird. Feet scarred and battered by a long career in ballet, on the other hand...

I think Annie Liebovitz is scarier, but then I've never liked the woman. Now that the full scale of her arrogance and incompetence has been laid bare, we'll no doubt be seeing her whoring herself around like this even more, because she couldn't possibly get by on less than four mansions, poor love.

It's a horrible photograph for any number of reasons.

It's not what you know (especially in media)...
