Cold count - 5

Still going strong!

This week I've read a few more graphic novels, the new Caballistics Inc, not quite up to the first one but still very readable, and Albion by Alan Moore. The latter can't have made much impression because I can hardly remember what it's about. Actually it's coming back to me. It's about what happened to all those British comic characters of the 50s, 60s and 70s. They were real but they've disappeared in some kind of sinister plot. Possibly an attempt at a British Top 10, just not a terribly successful one.

I finished Weight by Waterson which was short and enjoyable. I just like the way she writes, even if it is mostly about herself. Hercules' encounter with Hera is the funny high point of this retelling of the Atlas myth. I've also been reading the diaries of Harry Kessler, covering the period from after WWI until his death in 1937. He was a left-leaning high ranking German diplomat and noble who was involved in everything that happened in German politics and arts during this period. It's fascinating stuff but as this Amazon review indicates, it helps to know some of the context.
