Leaving dirty jersey

This is not a statement about my hygiene habits but an autobiographical account of crystal meth addiction written by a nice middle class East Coast boy who ended up in meth hell in California. It's an OK read but a bit devoid of anything really insightful and as such, slightly bland.

However one thing that did strike me is that the bits that describe the author's lowest points read very much in the same way as much of Dick's A Scanner Darkly, although without the humour.

The other thing is that it whichever item you look at on Amazon at the moment, they'll be a piece at the bottom saying:

What Do Customers Ultimately Buy After Viewing Items Like This?
57% buy the item featured on this page: Debbie does Dallas $16.99
6% buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) by J. K. Rowling $17.99

Hmmm.... I was on Amazon a few minutes ago... and although the Harry Potter note was there, there wasn't one for Debbie Does Dallas....

Oh, and book 7 of Harry appears to have dropped to a new low... with a 49% discount in price. So it's gone from a best seller to a loss-leader item in less than week!

Glad it's not where I spend my money :-)

I think the lowest you could get HP for round here was £4.95, around $10. That's a loss of about $6 on each copy.
