Adult education

No, not "adult" education, but "adult education". One of the best things about the UK is that for under £200 you can get a short course in almost any subject to a fairly reasonable level. Swahili, psychic development, advanced photoshop, Italian cooking, almost anything you can think of is available. Perhaps not roleplaying game design yet but I'm sure spencerpine is sitting on that one, or at least improv for roleplayers.

Tonight simonjrogers, his wife and I are starting a 10 week course in creative writing (£75). Last year they both took lessons in drawing and have produced some rather competent life drawings, certainly worth a second look.

I'm not expecting great things from the course but just to have someone take a consistent look at your output over a reasonable period of time is likely to produce improvement. And what's more, given that I've forked out £75, it will get me writing.

Following on from my previous entry, I've found that the London College of Printing are running a ten week course from January on Letterpress printing for £140. All I have to do is produce something on the current course that would be worth printing in the next one.

The downside of all this education is that, with chilledchimp furthering her spiritual development on Mondays and my gaming on Wednesdays, we don't spend so much time together in front of the telly. But we do have plenty to talk about when we do see each other on Tuesdays and Fridays. Those few Tuesdays and Fridays when we're not at the theatre, gigs or treadwells.
