Eating Habits

The Guardian has a very funny article on eating habits. Make sure you read all the comments at the end with people's strange habits.

I've been trying to think what mine are. Plate licking is probably pretty bad but I never indulge it in public. I don't obsessively monitor amounts of the various on my plate or not allow them to touch but I do sometimes keep some of my favourite until last.

What are your bad or bizarre habits?

I don't like foods on the plate touching. I'm not nearly as bed as I used to be about it, but it still gives me a slighty queasy feeling if the sauce off of one component of the meal touchs another component.

I tend to eat the different food elements on the plate in parallel so that they all run out simultaneously at the end -- I used to be quite obsessive about this as a kid.

I eat the different food elements on the plate one at a time; so, for example, if I have chicken, potatoes, sweetcorn, peas - I'd eat the peas first, then the sweetcorn, then the potatoes, and finally the chicken. I've always done it.

I guess my bad habit is speed. I grew up in a house where the first person finished got to get back to the pot first for the first shot (and thus biggest amount) of seconds. So when I eat, I eat everything in sight, as fast as I can, and if you've got any left, I will nick it off your plate if you look away for a second. And its gone, baby.

I warn my friends about this: do not leave me with food. Leaving me with a full packet of anything is like putting Michael Jackson in a creche.
