Before Dinosaur Jr and Sebadoh, Lou Barlow (with J. Mascis) was in a hardcore band called Deep Wound. A few years ago Baked Goods released a compilation of Deep Wound's demo, 7"s and their album Bands that could be God.

Some of the tracks sound very Sebadoh, Time to Stand in particular, even if they are much heavier and faster. And Lou's Anxiety Song, well, enuff said.

It's very raw, cheaply produced, short (27 tracks in 36 minutes), and just great.

By way of comparison I also got beyond, the Dinosaur Jr reunion album with the original line up, Mascis, Barlow and Murph. But I haven't listened to it yet.
