Washing Day

There's a block of flast that I can see from the window in my study. Yesterday was window cleaning day. Instead of having a cradle, they used the longest brush I've ever seen. It reaches clear up 5 floors. You must need strong arms to use it!

And then I reduced the photograph which produced this interesting moire effect.

They use brushes like that to wash the windows of our office building.

That effect is really weird. It's probably because the pixelation is very close to the lines the bricks make.

According to Wiki it's something to do with oversampling when reducing an image where there are straight line patterns.

I had to cheat to get it. Paint Shop Pro X does a better job than that if you ask it to reduce an image but I just used the zoom out which isn't so clever and then captured the image with a screen dump. I coulnd't get it to make the pattern just by reducing the image size.

Nice effect, speaks volumes for the consistency of the bricklayers.
