Tea-drinker par excellence

Disgusted of East Dulwich

We watched the France - England Women's World Cup Qualifier on BBC3 last Saturday. Just before the programme started the announcer introduced it with the words, "Apparently they've put cameras in the showers."

Paula and I were gobsmacked. Women's football has a hard enough time being accepted without the BBC making comments like this. So I sent an email of complaint to the BBC and this is what they replied:
It is never the intention of the BBC, or indeed our employees to upset or cause offence to any of our audience and this is simply just very much in the style of BBC THREE Presentation. Please accept our apologies for any offence caused.

So whilst they apologise for any offence caused, they are also saying that it is acceptable for BBC3 to do this kind of thing. And it seems to be my fault for not being hip to the BBC3 groove.
