Can't stop the hype

Serenity is the #1 film in the UK! That's pretty good for a non-blockbuster SF movie.

I don't think the £1M or so is going to mean that it will break even, and I don't suppose that it will be in that spot come next week, what with Wallace & Gromit coming out but I'd say things are looking up for a #2.

But if you add that £1M with the other $mills it's taking elsewhere I think you've got things covered and a healthy profit. I agree about it not being #1 next week. W&G is too much competition in its opening week for most films.

Eh, the overseas grosses don't return as high a percentage to the studio as the US ones do, and with only, what $12 million to show so far in the US, and a $40 million budget plus whatever it cost to promote (what, $10 million?)...

It'll eventually break even, I think, and it'll be a good seller on DVD, but DVD sales don't actually count toward making a film's budget back.

Well I am doing it backwards anyway :-)

Saw Curse of the Were-Rabbit last weekend on preview and will be seeing Serenity this coming Saturday.

All I can say is 'Careful Gromit lad, or you'll buckle me trunnions!'

Yes, just checking out venues today. A bit of a delay due to illness.
