Atrocity Archive - the Game

Yog-sothoth Radio's latest issue has an interview with Charles Stross. I really didn't think he sounded like that. The news is another Laundry book, based on the style of Anthony Price, considerably darker than the last.

And also, there's a roleplaying game in the offing (hurrah!), possibly based on BRP (not so hurrah!). I wonder who that could be? The usual suspects for snaffling licenced material are Cubicle 7, Pelgrane Press and Mongoose. And which one of these has a BRP licence?

Terrific news that there will be an rpg based on the Laundry series of books. I am just hoping that it is not d20...

Mongoose have opened RuneQuest up under the OGL; the d20 Sanity mechanic is also open. Which is to say, anyone has a BRP license in all but name.

I've read an early draft of the new Laundry book. You will like it, I think.

I hope so. I read some of the previous one in draft and although it was entertaining, as princeofcairo points out, it rather breaks with the feel of the previous outings. I rather liked the Laundry more when it wasn't Bond and it has lost some of its integrity.

Now that it is clear that it's a series of pastiches, it seems more like an amusement for Stross than anything else. Still fun for us, of course, but less than it might have been.

Which reminds me, must find some Alan Furst.

Basic Role-playing, the generic system stripped out of Runequest, on which Call of Cthulhu etc are based.

It's quite a long way in to the two hour podcast. I'd have liked it to be a bit more probing but that's not the Yoggie style.
