The acts of St George

My dad used to play St George in the Mumming plays that he and my Mum put on with the local folk club. It's a shame I don't have a photograph of him with his big bushy beard, chain mail and white tabard, trimmed with pink, with a big bow tied round his sword. Taking inspiration form Round the Horne, he enjoyed nothing more than camping it up and winding up those members of the audience who would take offence. He'd sit in their laps and accuse them of being "bold".

Been too ill to take advantage of my local pub's St George's celebration pint. Bugger!
