Mountain Witch shuffles off her Mortal Coil

There were, we thought, three of us for tonight's game so we thought we'd give Mountain Witch a go. That's the game of Ronin climbing Mt Fuji and doing in the Witch, whilst doing stuff along the way. I'd like to say more about the game but it is so indescribably horribly written that I'm thinking of having it as a prop in Call of Cthulhu.

So instead we ended up playing Mortal Coil, which was no bad idea. We are Neanderthals, perhaps even the last of our people, whilst we stay in place and can see spirits in all things, the empty people (Cro-magnon man) moves across the land killing and eating things without properly releasing their spirits. We can do magic but we have three great enemies, Long Spear of the empty people who can throw further with his magic stick and has tamed a wolf, Cave Bear who seeks her lost children and the Shadow with No Name, of which we know little.

Us three, myself, Dancer, Painter and Scout decided to try to find out why the empty people are forcing us out. So we kidnapped a child and forced a tree spirit into him, which caused some consternation with his woodcutter father. At this point another player turned so he got the boy as his PC. At this point there was a big fight between the boy's father and Long Spear. Scout turned into a wolf and called off Long Spear's pet, the boy used a tree to hit Long Spear and his dad used an axe. Together they took down Long Spear although the boy's dad was badly injured. Painter had been looking in on the spirit plan but Cave Bear caught sight of him and is now coming to the cave. More next week.
